Little Learners baby and toddler class in Reading

Updated: Jan 9

Erin and I had our first Little Learners experience and loved it. If you want your child to explore messy play, without having to clean up the mess, this is the class for you!

Inspiring mum, Jalpa Mistry, launched Little Learners in Reading a couple of months ago. She invited Erin and I along to see what it was all about.

We arrived to a room full of wonderful beach themed messy play and fine motor skills activities. Erin smiled and instantly got stuck in.

There was a tray full of sand with spades and shapes, a tray with rice krispies and blue coloured rice (to give the impression of a beach), and a tray with play foam and yellow sand (to look like a sun and clouds). As well as 'messy play' activities, there were chalks, pens, and a 'put the pasta on the spaghetti' challenge, to encourage the ruggies to explore their fine motor movements. My first impression was "wow". It was clear Jalpa puts a lot of thought and effort into her classes!

Erin loved being able to freely move around the various activities. And, it was so nice for me to enjoy watching Erin getting stuck in. It did make me realise I haven't done enough messy play activities at home. There's always the fear of getting paint up the walls or playdoh stuck in the furniture! I always find messy play at home involves a lot of planning too. I can see how Jalpa's classes can take the mummy-guilt away. You can take your child along each week to development their artistic and fine motor skills, relieving the pressure to do it at home.

Another element of Jalpa's class that stood out was how welcoming she is, and the other mummies there. I had a lovely chat with Jalpa about family and running a business alongside being a mum. The other mummies were amazing at making Erin and I feel at home too. I walked away feeling I had discovered a wonderful class and group of mummies I could be part of with Erin.

Details for the Little Learners classes in Reading are below. Jalpa is running classes throughout the summer holidays where you can bring siblings (up to the age of 8) along too. What a win!

Thank you so much for inviting Erin and I to experience what Little Learners is all about. We'll certainly see you soon!
