CHRISTMAS GIFTS: Gift ideas from small businesses in Berkshire
Updated: Apr 21
Support small businesses in Berkshire this Christmas by shopping locally.
The Christmas countdown is officially on. Are you an organised shopper with presents bought and wrapped? Or are you a last-minute shopper making purchases right up until Christmas Eve? Don't tell anyone, but I'm definitely the latter!
2019 has been an exciting year for me. I came back from maternity leave, launched Copy Write (website big time under construction) and then a few months later Mummy & the Ruggies. I always wanted to have my own copywriting business and I can't believe approaching 2020 I can say I did it.
I owe a lot of my business' success to the entrepreneur community in Berkshire, particularly my home town of Newbury. The support small businesses' give each other in Berkshire is extraordinary. This year has really opened my eyes to a wonderful community I never knew existed. I'm so grateful to be a part of it and have made some very good friends along the way.
Many people running these local businesses are holding down other jobs and looking after young families. They work extremely hard! Small businesses need our support - much more than the 'big boys' this Christmas. So, here's my Christmas Gift Guide to give you ideas about how you can support small businesses and shop local to you.
CHRISTMAS GIFT IDEAS FROM SMALL BUSINESSES IN BERKSHIRE
Amelia Rose Accessories: bags, scarfs, jewellery & more

Amelia Rose Accessories was founded by Rebecca who lives in Newbury. Rebecca's company was born out of a love for beautiful jewellery and accessories. It's clear to see when browsing through Amelia Rose Accessories' website, Rebecca clearly has a good eye for style - I want everything!
There are many gifts to choose from whether you're looking for a bag, scarf, hat, hair accessory or jewellery. You'll be spoilt for choice. However, two of my favourite Christmas gift ideas are the Tiger Print Bag £21.50, and the Metallic Grey and Silver Wrap Bracelet £18. Very pretty and very affordable!

Younique makeup with Katie Day
Prices start from £20
Katie is a makeup artist based in Thatcham and Newbury. Alongside her job she sells Younique beauty products. I'm well aware Younique is not a small, local business, however as it's part of Katie's business I very much want to show my support. Younique makeup is all mineral based, gluten free and vegan. I love trying out new makeup, so a product from Younique could make a great gift for a wife, mum, friend or daughter who likes to try new beauty launches too. There are many ideas to choose from however here's a few of the top sellers: 4D mascara £23, and the Eye Arsenal Collection £88.

Handmade jewellery by KookyTwo
Prices start from £5
This new jewellery brand is not technically from Berkshire, the company is based in Basingstoke, but the jewellery was too gorgeous not to mention. I met the founders a few months ago and they're pretty lovely too!
KookyTwo was founded by friends, Claire and Clare. They enjoyed making jewellery together and decided to turn their passion into a business. KookyTwo offers modern and contemporary jewellery designed to be worn everyday. Considering the jewellery is handmade, the prices are extremely reasonable.
There are many gorgeous styles to choose from. Here's a few of my favourites: the Silver Initial Disc Necklace £23, and the Silver Arrow Stud Earrings £15.

Personalised gifts for Him from Lush Letters
Prices approximately £28 depending on your order
Lush Letters was founded by Caz Campbell who lives in Newbury with her family. It's a lovely unique craft business that creates personal framed pictures. Lush Letters is known for using scrabble-style letters to spell out thoughtful messages positioned on attractive backgrounds before being framed. Lego characters often make an appearance too. Perhaps an idea for "Grandad's Den", "Dad's Office" or "Uncle Pete's Games Room"?
I must add that Caz is pretty amazing at juggling her business around other ventures - she runs a baby massage business - alongside being a mummy! Wow, I'm amazed at how Caz can fit it all in. Get in touch with Lush Letters to discuss what you'd like and Caz will create a bespoke design perfect for you.

Kate Dempsie, local Neal's Yard consultant
Prices start from £14
Neal's Yard is obviously a big brand, and including companies of this size in my post goes against everything I believe about shopping locally this Christmas. However, Kate lives not far from me in Thatcham and does a great job running her Neal's Yard role around her two children. It's Kate's business therefore I'd like to help her promote it.
If you're looking for something for the man in your life check out the Energise Your Senses gift. It includes skincare and an organic cotton wash bag for £45. Or there's an Energising Collection gift for £25 consisting of shower gel, body lotion and a handy roll-on to carry around. I think I need the roll-on for my sleep deprived life!

Mighty Acorns, organic clothes for kids
Prices start from £6
Tori is a mummy of three and launched Mighty Acorns in October this year. In just a few months many styles have already sold out! Mighty Acorns, based in Reading, has an amazing ethos behind the brand. Not only are the clothes handmade and 100% organic, but the packaging is eco-friendly and every time a garment is sold Mighty Acorns gives something back to people who need help. The brand recently promised to donate 20 packets of specially-formulated salts to help save lives of children suffering from cholera or malnutrition. Five sachets alone can mean the difference between life and death for one child! So, if your ruggie needs some new getup, check out Mighty Acorn's handmade clothes knowing you'll be helping the world and the people in it too.
